My technical role at Dept® Agency; visual skills are my primary expertise. I love the craft. Using typography, layout, colour, composition and spacing to create create (or maybe avoid) a feeling. Balancing form and function according to the problem at hand.
With its natural adjacency to UI, and my own tendency towards structure, architecture, and reusable patterns, UX is a big part of the job. Working through complex data models, conducting research and user testing to identify patterns and insights.
Whether setting up from scratch or scaling larger legacy systems, this is where I spend most of my time. I enjoy clever, flexible foundations, leveraging design tokens to move fast and efficiently. Now, excited for the challenge of figuring out where agents fit into our systems designed by humans for humans.
My main project at Dept® is working the design system for our national health service provider. What this project has taught me in terms of designing truly accessible user interfaces is one of the most valuable qualities to this experience.

With tools like Claude, Lovable and many more, prototyping is changing from Figma flows and click-throughs to functional, testable builds. I use AI to narrow the gap between idea and working prototype, in Claude Code, then lean on fast iteration and user testing to refine.
